The latest twist involves a lawsuit claiming that a Comcast store in Plainville, Connecticut, punished underperforming employees by smashing pies in their faces. The suit, filed in the Superior Court of New Haven at Meriden, alleges this bizarre practice was directed by the store manager and carried out by top sales staff.
David Figueroa, who worked briefly as a retail sales consultant starting February 2, says he witnessed the humiliating ritual firsthand. According to his complaint, employees who fell short of sales goals were tied to a chair in the back office and hit with cream pies while the manager filmed the whole event. One female employee was also reportedly assaulted after receiving a poor customer survey score, with that incident recorded on video as well.
The lawsuit describes a performance board in the back office that tracked employee results and used pie face emojis to mark those set to be targeted. Figueroa is seeking damages for both financial losses and emotional harm caused by this hostile work environment. Comcast has denied the allegations, emphasizing their zero-tolerance policy on harassment and humiliation, and says it will respond through the courts as the case unfolds.
