Coinbase secured a record 10.3% of the global crypto trading market in Q2 2026, a notable rise from 9.1% in the previous quarter. This achievement marked the third straight quarter of growing market share, setting a new high even as the company faced a $359 million net loss.
The exchange processed $146.4 billion in crypto spot trading volume, pushing its derivatives market presence to new heights for the third quarter running. This increase came despite a challenging environment where the overall crypto market cap dropped 11% and spot trading volumes across the industry plunged 25%.
Revenue Down, But Subscription Services Shine
Coinbase's total revenue slipped 14% to $1.2 billion, missing Wall Street’s $1.35 billion expectations. Transaction revenue, the company’s largest income stream, fell 21% to $599 million as trading activity softened. However, subscription and services revenue hit a record $555 million, representing 48% of net revenue, highlighting the firm's successful pivot toward diversified income sources.
CEO Brian Armstrong emphasized the company’s broadening business approach on X, highlighting Coinbase's status as the platform holding the most crypto assets worldwide and its leadership in stablecoin services. Armstrong framed this diverse revenue mix as validation that Coinbase is well-positioned to lead the industry’s shift toward onchain finance.

Despite the loss, Coinbase maintained a streak of positive adjusted EBITDA, signaling operational resilience. The company’s market share gains stand out in a period when many competitors struggled with declining volumes.
