BitMart has announced it will halt new user activity immediately and stop all trading by August 26, 2026, with a full platform shutdown planned for January 31, 2027. The company advised users to wrap up their positions and withdraw assets as soon as possible to avoid complications.
The decision came after a full review of BitMart’s operational standing, prevailing market environment, and its strategic path forward. Recent months have seen the industry grow more competitive, with trading volumes shrinking and liquidity increasingly concentrated in a few large exchanges. This pressure hits smaller and mid-sized platforms hardest, pushing some to exit the market.
Orderly Wind-Down Process Underway
Starting July 26, 2026, BitMart stopped new account registrations, deposits, and trading orders. Futures accounts were limited to reducing positions but not opening new ones. Spot trading ceased accepting new orders, and automated trading services including copy trading, grid trading, and API orders began phasing out. Users must cancel open orders manually or risk automatic cancellation by the system.
By August 26, all spot, futures, and related trading services will end. The platform may settle remaining futures positions based on prevailing market prices and established rules. Other offerings like BitMart Earn, staking, lending, and Launchpad will also wind down on separate schedules.
While trading closes in August, BitMart will allow account access until January 31, 2027, giving users time to review balances and withdraw funds. Withdrawal services continue throughout this interval, but users face additional identity verification and security checks before completing transactions.
This move echoes BitMEX’s recent announcement to shut down, highlighting mounting difficulties for centralized exchanges amid a slower cycle and cautious investors. Despite speculation of a crypto bubble bursting, these closures primarily reflect challenges smaller exchanges face competing against dominant players.
Clients are urged to finalize identity verification promptly, close all positions by August 26, redeem funds locked in staking or lending, download transaction histories, and submit withdrawal requests early to prevent delays.
