BitMart, once a top 10 crypto exchange by daily volume, announced it will gradually shut down its platform amid tough market conditions. The decision follows the halt of new user registrations, deposits, and buy/sell orders starting July 26, 2026. All trading will end on August 26, with the full closure set for January 31, 2027.
The exchange saw major success in 2021, backed by investments valuing it around $300 million. However, a $200 million crypto theft late that year triggered operational struggles. Those difficulties appear to have culminated in this shutdown plan.
BitMart’s native token, BMX, took a hit, plunging about 63 percent within 24 hours after the closure announcement, reflecting investor concerns.
