BitGo and OTC Markets Group are joining forces to open tokenized securities trading to more than 150 broker-dealers through OTC Link ATS, the alternative trading system already wired into a broad network of registered firms. Under the proposed arrangement, those broker-dealers would be able to trade and settle digital asset securities using BitGo's custody infrastructure as the backbone.
What the partnership actually changes
For most broker-dealers, access to tokenized securities has been blocked not by appetite but by plumbing. Custody for digital assets requires specialized infrastructure that the typical registered firm simply doesn't have in-house. BitGo steps in to fill that gap, providing the qualified custody layer while OTC Link ATS handles the trading and settlement routing that these firms already know and use.
OTC Markets runs a system with deep reach into the broker-dealer community. Plugging a custody and settlement solution for digital assets directly into that network means tokenized securities could move from a niche product to something accessible through channels that already handle billions in daily volume across conventional securities. That is the operational logic of the deal, and it's a meaningful shift if the alliance closes as planned.
