Bitget has upgraded BGBTC, its Bitcoin-backed yield asset, by adding daily BTC rewards and faster redemption for large volumes. This upgrade makes BGBTC more than a passive holder’s option the asset now serves as active capital that can be used within Bitget’s platform for futures margin, lending collateral, and participation in Launchpool and PoolX.
BGBTC remains pegged 1:1 to Bitcoin, letting holders earn additional BTC without converting rewards into other tokens or fiat. Bitget focused on reducing the usual trade-off between holding Bitcoin untouched and engaging with complex, risky yield strategies. The new setup boosts capital efficiency, similar to how Bitget expanded tokenized equities into wider margin and yield applications.
Chainlink CCIP Powers Cross-Chain Movement with Risk Oversight
At the core of Bitget’s upgrade is the adoption of Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) to securely distribute BGBTC across blockchains. This infrastructure ensures that BGBTC can remain liquid and productive across various financial actions. Meanwhile, Gauntlet will independently monitor risk around BGBTC’s yield mechanisms, adding a safety layer to these innovative strategies.
By embedding BGBTC deeper into its ecosystem, Bitget transforms Bitcoin from a static asset into working capital that users can deploy flexibly. The upgrade aligns with broader market shifts where Bitcoin liquidity and productivity gain new importance for traders and holders alike.
