Bitcoin has spent a third consecutive session stuck between $64,000 and $66,800, trading around $65,674 as of Thursday morning UTC, down just 0.62% from midnight. The range has held for roughly a week now, ever since the coin failed to push convincingly past $66,000 resistance on Tuesday.

The context matters. BTC rallied more than 13% off its July 1 low of $57,750, a sharp recovery that appears to have run out of immediate steam. Without a fresh catalyst, the path of least resistance is sideways.

Macro giving no signal either way

Traditional markets are not helping. Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 futures are both off around 0.3%, gold and silver are pulling back after Wednesday's safe-haven bid, and the dollar index (DXY) is broadly flat. That combination leaves crypto without a clear macro tailwind or headwind to lean on, which partly explains why price action feels so muted.

Derivatives stuck in neutral

The futures market is reflecting the same indecision. Twenty-four-hour trading volume is essentially unchanged at $147 billion, open interest is holding near $111 billion, and the long-short ratio is nearly balanced. That equilibrium signals a lack of aggressive directional conviction among traders right now.

Bitcoin's futures open interest has slipped back to 743,000 BTC from highs above 760,000 BTC seen earlier this week. The pullback suggests some existing bets are being unwound as the price rally stalls. Bulls could read that as a setup: lower OI with price holding its range can sometimes precede the next leg up, but it needs a trigger.

Away from bitcoin, a few tokens broke out of the flat tape. WLFI surged 12.18% to top the session watchlist despite the subdued backdrop. Morpho extended its recent run with a 4% gain. Lighter, on the other hand, dropped for a third straight session as profit-taking continues to chip away at the token following its 200% rally between May and early July.
