Bitcoin crossed into 64,500 territory on August 6, up 1.7% in the session. The move puts the largest cryptocurrency within striking distance of the 65,000 level, a technical threshold traders have been eyeing since July. Ethereum followed suit with a 2.11% gain to 1,920, extending its weekly outperformance over the broader market.
The momentum wasn't isolated to the mega-cap names. XRP jumped 3.03%, the day's strongest performer among major tokens, while Solana, BNB, and Dogecoin all notched single-digit gains in the 0.95% to 1.04% range. Stablecoin USDC held steady near parity at 0.9998, a sign that liquidity remained calm across exchanges.
What's driving the lift? Traders are pricing in a shift on crypto regulation. The CLARITY Act, a congressional bill that would clarify which agencies oversee digital assets, has gained fresh momentum in recent weeks. The legislation doesn't ban anything, but it removes a key source of market anxiety, the ambiguity over which regulator gets final say. That clarity is worth real money to institutional investors who've been sidelined by legal fog.
Pi Network, a smaller project with a devoted community, saw outsized gains as retail buyers rotated into altcoins on the back of Bitcoin's strength. That's the classic pattern, the one that usually precedes a broader rally or a sharp pullback, depending on how fast capital flows.
Bitcoin 64,529, Ethereum 1,920, XRP 1.00. The tape shows no panic, no forced liquidations. Just steady accumulation into what looks like a consolidation break.
