Bitcoin remains stuck around $64,000, caught between uncertain US monetary moves and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Amid this sideways trading, Joao Wedson, CEO of Alphractal, predicts a fresh bullish run could emerge after the upcoming US midterm elections.
Historical Patterns Point to Post-Election Gains
Wedson highlights a recurring theme: Bitcoin tends to hit a low approximately a year before midterms, only to ramp up into extended bull markets after election uncertainty fades. This pattern has appeared across multiple cycles, with price bottoms often forming days before or right after the elections. The relationship extends beyond midterms, as presidential victories have historically triggered sharp rallies that push Bitcoin towards cycle highs soon after the new president takes office.
For instance, Wedson points to XRP's price action following the 2024 presidential race. XRP surged immediately when Donald Trump won and reached a local peak as Trump assumed office in January 2025, showing a compelling market reaction to political events.
What This Could Mean for Bitcoin Investors
If history holds true, Bitcoin may struggle with volatility leading into the US midterms but stand ready to rally once results settle. This dynamic adds another layer to navigating Bitcoin's price fluctuations, especially during politically charged periods.
