Bitcoin bounced to nearly $64,000 in Asian trading Tuesday, shaking off a Monday dip that had taken it down to $62,250. The move came on the back of steady buying pressure overnight, with the token up 2% over the past 24 hours and holding gains for the week despite mounting chaos elsewhere in the market.
Ether remained the laggard among major cryptocurrencies, sitting near $1,865 and down 1% over seven days. Every other heavyweight moved higher. BNB added 1.5% to push past $590 and now leads the pack on weekly performance at almost 5%. XRP climbed to $1.08, Solana touched $74, and smaller tokens like HYPE bounced 4% after getting hammered last week.
The recovery happened in spite of a fourth round of wallet sweeps that drained roughly 449 bitcoin from 709 addresses on Monday. Researchers still haven't pinned down whether the same attacker is behind all the incidents or if different operators are exploiting the same Coldcard firmware vulnerability. The breach has now pulled hundreds of bitcoin out of circulation, yet traders are mostly brushing it aside and focusing on price action instead.
Equity markets sent mixed signals into the crypto open. Asia's MSCI gauge fell 0.7% for a second straight day, with South Korea's Kospi dropping 1.1% after climbing 2.1% earlier in the session. Semiconductor stocks across the region got hit as AI trade jitters spread through regional bourses. U.S. futures steadied slightly though, with Nasdaq 100 contracts up 0.4% after Palantir jumped 14% post-market on raised guidance.
The key level to watch now sits at $63,000. Bitcoin has reclaimed and lost that mark twice in three days, and holding it through the U.S. session would signal real conviction from buyers rather than just overnight bounce trading.
