Someone just bought 200 million Dogecoin through Robinhood, and futures open interest on DOGE has crossed $1.08 billion for the first time in months. The timing is drawing attention. Elon Musk's name is already circulating in trading chats.

The purchase itself was spotted on-chain by several analysts tracking large wallet movements. Robinhood, holds DOGE on behalf of retail users but also facilitates institutional-scale buys, which makes pinpointing the buyer difficult. As analysts at crypto data platforms noted, open interest at this level typically signals that serious money is positioning, not just retail chasing a meme.

What the data actually shows

Liquidation figures lean bullish. Short positions have been getting squeezed over the past 48 hours, with liquidations skewed heavily toward sellers. Technically, DOGE has been pressing against a resistance band that held through most of the spring correction, and the volume spike accompanying this buy is the largest since early this year.

Whether Musk is behind it remains unconfirmed. His history with Dogecoin is well documented, from Tesla flirting with DOGE payments to his repeated posts moving the price by double digits in minutes. According to market observers cited in the analysis, the sheer size of the Robinhood purchase is consistent with an entity that wants price exposure without moving spot markets too aggressively.

Still, 200 million DOGE at current prices is roughly $28 million, a relatively modest sum for someone of Musk's wealth, which makes the speculation harder to dismiss outright. No official statement has come from Musk or any of his companies.
